E sili le puipuia nai lo le tau togafitia | Early detection is your best protection
This is Te Hiku Hauora current campaign is dedicated to empowering and encouraging Pacific women within Te Tokerau to participate actively in the breast screening program, with the added value that the Breast Screening Caravan will be in Kaitaia from June 24-19 July and again from 18 November - 6 December 2024.
This campaign recognises the strength and dignity of Pacific women, who play a central role in maintaining family health and well-being. Te Hiku Hauora wants our Pasifika Mamas, Aunts, Daughters, Sisters, and Cousins aged 45-69 years who have NOT been screened to take proactive steps as acts of strength and care for themselves and their families.
Breast screening is vital for early detection and increasing survival rates. It’s a crucial preventative measure that saves lives by identifying issues early. As a community we can encourage and support our wahine in getting screened.
Te Hiku Hauora is part of your 'village' and is here to assist you in getting screened. Education and open dialogue (talanoa) about breast and any other health concerns - we want to empower all women to make informed decisions.
There is No Shame and know that we just care - Seeking preventive care shows strength and responsibility. Normalising breast screening within Pasifika communities helps eliminate stigma and promote health. This service is a key community resource, emphasising its importance and accessibility.
