Jeans professional background draws upon many years of working in a range of business and management kaupapa across Government and non-Government organisations, with a special interest in community development and wellbeing. Kia Mataara – Te Uri o Tai as four wahine group who managed a recovery programme for Pawarenga over the COVID 19 Pandemic and beyond is one such initiative.
She served on Governance Boards as a Trustee of: Te Rūnanga o Te Rarawa (marae elected representative), Te Hiku Hauora, Far North REAP, Safer Community Council, Fresh Start Foodbank, Pawarenga Community Trust and she chaired a Far North COGS committee. Whaea Jean belongs to a Collective of Māori Healers Kuia and Kaumatua support group, and she is still involved with Nga Hoe Horo Waka Ama Club.
Jean is now the Mareikura (Patroness) where she holds the vision, mission and philosophy of Te Hiku Hauora.
