Mere Henry

Ngāi Takoto

Kaitiaki ( Trustee)

Mere is the mother of three daughters and grandmother of one moko. She has been involved with her Iwi, Ngāi Takoto, for many years. Mere is an active committee member for Waimanoni and Mahimaru Marae, and served at Kareponia marae. She is a Trustee for St Joseph’s Anglican Māori Church and Matarau Urupā and All Saints Anglican Church and Komako Urupā.

 Currently, Mere Chairs Ngā Taonga o Ngāi Takoto Trust - the mandated Iwi Organisation under the Māori Fisheries Act and she is the Presiding Member at Awanui School. As the Education Manager for Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Takoto, Mere is responsible for reviewing the education strategy for Ngāi Takoto with whānau, Marae, and learning centres. She also provides pastoral care for the Te Hiku Bachelor of Primary Education program (University of Waikato). Mere enjoys serving the community of Te Hiku o Te Ika.
