Roberta draws her strength from her upbringing with her grandparents and the values of her tupuna who promoted manaaki, awhi and tautoko. With life skills, Roberta’s early governance experiences occurred on her tamariki’s school boards, where she also supported community events and volunteered for Victim Support.
As a committed Marae member Roberta was nominated as a Trustee for Te Rūnanga o Te Rarawa for two terms running and currently represents Te Rarawa on various Te Hiku Boards, utilising her learnings to best serve her Marae, Hapu, Iwi and communities.
Roberta has work experience in Hauora, which have provided an insight into the complexities in Muriwhenua and the struggles many whānau face. Roberta is an advocate for communities being able to contribute in decision-making and setting goals to reduce inequities that are rife in the health sector.
