Joan has worked in education and in Hauora Māori realms for over three decades. For near the same period ( 25 years) Joan has dedicated herself to Governance and Kaitiaki Roles as Chair and as Trustee for Marae, Iwi, Urupa, Māori Womens Welfare League, Kura and Sports Committees, and Hauora Māori Organisations.
Joan brings local and regional knowledge as whānau , hapu, Iwi and Hapori, with established networks and relationships. Her proven skills and experience are across multiple sectors of health, social services, education and Whānau Ora.
Joan is confident in multi-level communication situations requiring biliterate interactions ie Te Reo Māori and English. Passionate for Matauranga Māori, and Rongoa as therapeutic options.
An evolving plan that is future focused with whānau oranga at the forefront. As the Chair of Te Hiku Hauora, Joan sees her role to ensure support and resources are available to the Pou Kaiwhakahaere to realise the vision of Te Hiku Hauora.
